A builder came to a river carrying a rough stone.
He had imagined making something that would outlast him. But on the opposite bank, people were waiting to cross.
So he set the stone into the riverbed.
The first crossing failed. He studied where the water had moved it, changed the footing, and tried again. Each mistake became a mark in his journal—not something to conceal, nor something to repeat.
Others brought stones. Some brought tools. Some showed him a current he had not noticed.
When the bridge stood, someone asked where he would carve his name.
He pointed to an unfinished step.
At dusk, they placed a lamp beside the crossing. Travelers chose their own direction. Some carried its flame onward; others returned with knowledge of the roads beyond.
There was always another step to mend, another crossing to consider.
The work returned to the point—but never without a lesson.
And the lamp shone just as brightly for those who never knew who lit it.
Truth in plain sight. Light for all.
